In My Own Words:
My name is Larry Filman Brenes Ramírez. I was born in Masaya in the community called Pilas Occidentales on October 24, 1991. My parents are Maria del Carmen Ramírez and Argelia Brenes, who since they were young taught me good behavior and how to respect the church and different denominations.
Since I was six, I attended a school called Rafael Herrera Numero 2, in the community where I live. I studied first and second grade there. Then, my mother changed my school and I studied at a place called Andrés Castro de Santa Amalia. There, I completed third, fourth, fifth, and sixth grades.
The following year I started Secondary school in a place called Maria Auxiliadora in Los Altos, Nindiri. In my fourth year, I participated in an effort to help fight illiteracy in my community.
During all of these years of fighting, my mother and I have worked in the field in order to end up here. At times, I studied and worked. I would get to work at eleven in the morning and then I would shower and walk to school – often tired. Sometimes I wanted to quit studying so I could sell full time to help my family.
