October 2014
Hello, my name is Elida Fernandez Garcia; I am part of a BECA.org family I am going to share my experience with all of you how I stared and ended in this family.
Before I ended my high school my dream was to study a career even though the situation that I encountered at that time didn’t let me to feel like carrying on with my studies, but at the same time that situation made me see the things in a different way.
Later on, my cousin nelson who was already member of the organization told me about the foundation BECA.org. I went to get more information about it and one of the requirements was to have a cedula. I remembered that I didn’t have it. I just had like a little paper saying that was in process however the lady who was providing the information told me that with the little piece of paper that I got I could apply to the scholarship; after few days I filled out some paper, when I went to give them back the people who was taking them didn’t accept mine because I didn’t have my cedula. Unfortunately I went back home with the paper in my hands. that was on 2010.
In that year I didn't study. On 2011 I had already my cedula I went back to apply again I remember I prayed God and I told him this is going to be the last time that I go to apply for this scholarship. I went there with Ollie and Antonio was there. I wondered if I was going to be in the chosen list. Let me tell you that my name was there it was awesome I felt so happy to be in that list.
I started at BECA.org working in an elementary school helping teachers for a period of 3 months. It was an unforgettable experience.
Once we finished that period we had to choose a career to study, I thought to study secretary bilingual but it was not in the central techniques we had visited. Then, Antonio let us know about a project related to English and later on to work in a call center. I decided to take it. I studied English for almost 2 years.
During that time Walter one of the sponsors decided to take us to apply to the call center and nothing worked people from the call center told us come back later may be in one month or more. The thing was nobody was hired.
When the course was done all of us who studied English decided to apply again and was the same thing, bad news no one of us was hired. On October of the year 2013 I went to SITEL to apply I was offered a course that was called PRE- HIRED which lasted 3 months. I took it. The schedule was from 4: 00 pm to 12: 00 am i finished it on January 2014 my mom didn’t want me to go because she said it was dangerous at that time, I told her it is now or never at the end she was with me.
I remember after the course ended I was not hired yet, I had to do the whole process again. I did it but there was not answer. A week passed I received a call phone Sitel and the good news was that I needed to sign some paper because I was already hired. That was the most beautiful part of that day. That was great. Now i have 6 months working at SITEL in a campaign that is called Moneygram which is about sending and receiving money.
I feel thankful with God for everything that have done and shown me in all my live. It is a nice experience to have met the Foundation BECA.Org which is part of our dreams. I thank God for Walter’s and Antonio’s life who always were there pushing us to carry on and never give up and the team of BECA.org as well.
God bless this organization and make it bigger to provide more opportunities to all those guys that want to achieve their dreams. Thanks a lot. Blessing
