My name is Kenya, I am an adult. I live in a small neighborhood called "Velasquez" located in the rural area (Las Flores-Masaya). I finished high school in 2006.
I am a very calm, straightforward, responsible person. I come from a large family and from them I was the only one that studied due a lack of financial resources.
For me the most important part of my life was during high school because I acquired new knowledge, I made new friends and I met new teachers and with them I lived good and bad moments. Within time I learned to respect them, to care for them because they made me feel in a very familiar atmosphere and I also learned to enjoy their company.
I still remember the first day in high school. At the beginning everything went well, until months went by and things stopped being so easy. There were a lot of tests, home works, etc. It’s not that I didn’t study enough but I really didn’t have any time left to play. But with time I adapted to it and I put a lot of interest in my classes because I wanted to pass.
My top goal at that moment was to finish high school, for me that was a big challenge that I had to overcome. And I did. I achieved my goal thanks to my optimism, my efforts, my interest and the confidence that I had in myself; even though there were moments when I felt disappointed and weakened.
All of what I experienced in high school taught me a big lesson: that in order to achieve what I want, I have to work hard and make sacrifices; but in the end everything will be worth it. It taught me that if I really want to achieve something I can sweep all the obstacles that might arrive. I also learned to see things in a positive way.
Last year I worked with an institution named "ALTERNATIVA" to improve my community. At the beginning I worked with teenagers as the J.D.J. secretary but that didn’t went so well. After that, I got involved with the grownups and working with them was fun, I had the opportunity to exchange ideas with them and little by little get to know them a little better.
