About
BECA.org recognizes the need for education.
According to 2001 estimates, the average amount of schooling for children in Nicaragua is 4.9 years.* In fact, approximately 40% of Nicaraguan children between the ages of 13-18 do not even attend school.
Those that do attend must complement their education by attending private technical schools that provide specific skill sets considered critical for employment. The cost for these courses is reasonable, often as low as USD $80. Yet, they remain beyond the economic grasp of many students in poor, underdeveloped communities.
BECA.org connects you to students.
Through local surveys and screening processes, we seek out bright, talented students who are committed to their education and creating opportunities in their lives. Through the Internet we connect these students to sponsors from all over the world. We believe in empowering students to pursue their dreams, and empowering individuals who wish to help them.
